Dante (aka Dante)
« on: Time Format »

My name is Dante, I'm in Northern California. I bought my first ADA MP-1 in 1989, when I was playing in an original Punk/Funk project called 'go figure...' We opened a show for Primus at a local club & I saw these funny looking footswitches in front of Larry (guitar player) and Les (bass player). The footswitch said "ADA Amplification Systems" on it, so I started looking into them. (I asked Les about them backstage, but we were a bit preoccupied to talk gear  :banana-rasta:)

I quickly had my rig together, thanks to a maxed out credit card and a trip to Guitar Center in Berkely  and used that rig until 1995. At that time, I was no longer playing live, I moved to a nearby town to finish my college and I picked up an MP-2. As soon as I had the MP-2, I sold the MP-1 (and the accompanying noise gate - ha ha) and began playing a bit at home, but not in a band. I used to joke with people when they asked 'do you play in a band?' I'd answer: I play with myself, and I'm appearing nightly in the dining room ;)

So, fast forward about 10 years...it's 2007 and I am having no joy from the MP-2 anymore. It makes more low hum than tone and I fear it is finally dead. I didn't even suspect that it could be repaired, until I found the Depot. With the help of MJMP and HarleyHexxe, my local guitar tech was able to repair my MP-2 and I joined a cover band to keep my chops up.

A few years (and a few bands) later, I am tired of carrying a bunch of heavy gear around and settle for a 2u rack + a small combo amp. We were mic'ing everything anyway, why carry around a 4x12 or two 1x12s? The 2u rack had my trusty MP-2 and a Quadraverb in it, that's it. That rig served me very well for a very long time and I still have my MP-2 + Quadraverb together, but now they are in a 4u rack with an ADA T100s  :metal:

I have an MP-1 Classic (which I LOVE) paired with a backup preamp that also has built in effects (BOSS GX-700) housed in a backup rack, paired with an ADA Microtube 200 (MT200). When i play live now though, I leave the racks at home and go with a simple FX unit + combo amp

It's a pleasure to meet you all  :ada-big:

Second: Okay you heathens, behold rock pose #14. This is a classic solo pose, where I'm playing ONE NOTE AT A TIME. Amazing, I know.

Please NOTE:
At no time do my fingers leave my hands

Heeeeere's a video from the show: let's get CRAZY! Complete with all the mistakes and flubs. I love the internet - once you make a mistake, it's there FOREVER

Don't worry Zilthy we like you  :thumb-up: and you do count (check one tswo LOL).  Well we do have a lady on the board now (go Andrea  :thumb-up: ), not to make too big a thing of it but, as far as I can tell, she has the honour of being the first for this reincarnation of the depot (thanks to Dante    oh master/provider of the board).
Cheers Richard
