Hey guys  !

Its new guitar day !  :whoohoo!:

My first 8 string guitar , also my first neckthrough guitar , and first fixed bridge in 14 years ! Its a real step out of the usual 6 string zone , I had my 6 strings tuned way down , but the 25inch scale means the strings are quite loose , so this 8 string is a 28.5 inch scale, somewhere between a guitar and a bass , for correct string tension . Its from a company in america called RondoMusic  - really impressed at the quality , definately checkout their website , they sell 6s too !!

I thought id upload some pics for you to enjoy , this thing goes well with the ADA 3TM , Still to get some audio recorded ...  :metal: :banana-guitar: :banana-trip:

Ok the pics seem to large for the screen so heres the links instead !

Very nice Batts (like the cat also  ;) ).  Did you get the Ibenez ??, I'm currently revitalising my old Profile silhouette Tele (when made in Japan was good..), I routed it out and put a full floating shaller Floyd on it a long while ago, I've just set it up in dropped D with DR 10-52s so I've got a whammy guitar for even flow, monkey wrench and maybe spoonman

hey Rnolan , nope the ibanez was a no go , the guys at the store were just trying to ring me out so i thought it better off to leave it ! That tele sounds real nice, i dont know much about them but i think its rare to have one with a floating bridge !? D with 10s is real nice , thick sound and still good for bends  :banana-guitar: :metal:

Bummer about the Ibenez, maybe you'll find another.  The Tele is quite nice, I've not seen anyone else do it.  Initially I put a Gotoh whammy on it (but not fully floating), one of the fine tuner screws busted so I copied the routing cavity in my Anderson and did it to the Tele and fitted the Shaller floyd, very nice.. I'm stuffing around with PUs for it now, the old Seamor Hot Tele PU is a bit dated and I've got a spare Ultrasonic HB which will be great (need to do more routing to fit it).  Neck PU is a SD Hot Rails, I'd like to get another (single coil sized) Ultrasonic for the neck position.  It's a bit Tele twangy at the moment, not quite my style  >:D

Thanks marsh ! Tuning is like a standard 6 with 2 extra low strings , F# B E A D G B E . I am currently using a set that came with it, usa strings "La Bella crazy 8s"  , but i switched out the low string today which is .074 for a .075, to make it a bit tighter when picking !  Takes some getting used to , but if you are familiar with the 3-note-per-string mode patterns, it makes it a little easier as they just repeat onto the 2 new strings !

PS; I might have a stock MP1 coming your way for repairs in a few weeks !  :metal:

.075,jezz,these are almost bass strings

Nice score! Bet that thing rips with those EMGs.  And yeah MJMP, those things are like frickin' bass strings.  My friend had a Schecter C-8 and it was like I had to fend off my bassist-first instincts when I played it, just didn't have a long enough scale so that string flopped around like the A string on a bass would.  That 28.5" scale on this one however should really make that F# tight.

Though this is standard request around here these days ...video please!  >:D

Come on Batts, we want to see and hear it.... :thumb-up: looks like an awesome guitar/bass, mm not quite sure...  Hey Dante, if we've got unlimited disk space, maybe we (well you...) could set up a spot on the depot where we could post bits (.flac would be good for sound clips or .flvs' (what's the preferred video format these days? hard to keep up)) and not have to you screw etc ?
