Voltage question
« on: Time Format »

Just wondered, would there be anything that I would have to look out for if I was to use an MP1 from the UK (220v) in Australia (240v). I'm hoping that it would just be a case of using a plug adapter.

Just a different plug and you're set.

Hey Richie_B, typically thats true for UK and European units but, you always need to ask as some (I've noticed) have US units (110v) and use a step down transformer.  With MP-1 you can fix that with a MDRT or IIRC MJMP still has some 240v MP-1 transformers  :dunno: , with MP-2s, you need to make sure they are 230/240v (or use a step down transformer yourself..).

Hey Richard, the unit im looking at is 220. General opinion has been that it should work as is with a plug adapter. Having said that, if theres a stepdown, i'll need  to find one. Again with the more expense.

Hey Richie_B, a euro 220v unit (as MJMP advised) will be fine, you just have to change the power plug. You only need a stepdown transformer if you want to run a US (117v) or Japanese (110v) model ADA here  :thumb-up:

Picky picky LoL (and rightly so MJMP), at least I got it half right, though IIRC japan will work with 110v ? and so will US ? Like, Australia is 240v but 220v and 230v work here.

Most US stuff will work in Japan. The strange thing is western Japan is 60Hz and eastern is 50Hz.But they officially have a 100V grid. The US 117V and EU 230V.Don't know in other parts off the world but here we have a tolerance of 10% on the grid voltage so it can be between 207V and 253V.
