MP2 Noise Mod Parts

Nice, MJMP sent me an email with that information and I'm planning on getting one sometime after the weekend is over.  With the holidays, been running around like a chicken with my head cut off but should slow down next week.

At the request of a couple of you on this board, here's an update to the noise mod, reducing the variety of parts needed if you are ordering them in small batches of components off Amazon.com

Here's the original noise mod plans and instructions:

First, here are the changes I made:

* C920 - from 4700uf/16V to 4700uf/35V (simple max voltage uprating, won't affect performance and even gives additional voltage tolerance to the cap)
* C909 - from 3300uF/35V to 4700uf/35V (this in theory should reduce the ripple to U904 even more but I didn't bother to scope it, besides it's for the tube filaments anyhow)These two substitutions above reduced the number of DIFFERENT components by 2.

* C911 - from 33uf/350V to 47uf/450V (again going up on this will reduce the voltage ripple further on that power supply line)
* C333 - from 47uf/250V to 47uf/450V (higher voltage uprating to accommodate C911, couldn't find any rated at 350V)
* C334 - from 47uf/250V to 47uf/450VThis resulted in a further reduction in the number of different parts by 1

Original parts list  (10 different parts)

* 4x 10uf/50V capacitor
* 5x 33uf/50V capacitor
* 1x 33uf/350V capacitor
* 2x 47uf/250V capacitor
* 1x 470uf/50V capacitor
* 4x 1000uf/50V capacitor
* 1x 3300uf/350V capacitor
* 1x 4700uf/16V capacitor
* 2x 4700uf/35V capacitor
* 1x 240k resistor
NEW PARTS LIST (7 different parts)

* 4x 10uf/50V capacitor
* 5x 33uf/50V capacitor
* 3x 47uf/450V capacitor (anything that has 47uf rated over 350V will work here)
* 1x 470uf/50V capacitor
* 4x 1000uf/50V capacitor
* 4x 4700uf/35V capacitor (I opted to use through-hole capacitors instead of snap-in ones to minimize damage to the circuit board pads/holes in case of future rework)
* 1x 240k resistor
IMPORTANT NOTE: When ordering parts, please take note of the sizes of components. Most of the newer capacitors are smaller then the ones they are replacing, but in cases of uprating/upsizing, some components may end up slightly larger. Make sure you don't end up with one that is too big or too tall to fit in the space on the main circuit board.

Also while you're in there, you may want to attempt to swap out the soldered battery with a vertical battery holder (https://www.amazon.com/Shapenty-Plastic-Vertical-Battery-Sockets/dp/B071F3HW8J) and modding the battery holder like this with the leftover cut capacitor leads:




...then soldering it on the main board:


Bonus! Leftover parts to have handy.  :lol:
