Hi guys.. yes in a roll with posts!!

So i determined my 7pin midi cable has issues. Seems they arent too popular here in australia and when you do find one they are $100 (rjm). Considering thisis just to provide power and commands I figured id just make my own.

Anyone familiar with cabling requirements. Found the plugs locally https://www.jaycar.com.au/7-pin-din-plug/p/PP0310

I assume if i just make the cable the same as my old one..ie whatever pins are active (use multimeter to check) then i should be ok. I think  i read only a few pins are used and i assume the outside metal on the plug is the ground.

Any thoughts on what type of cable to use.. obviously multicore.. what gauge .. shielded.. etc. Id be looking at maybe 5meters

Look here, in the description he tells what he's using.

Now I do recommend using a better 7 pin din plug then the plastic one you want to use. Get one of those metal neutriks.

I'm even using 7-pin XLR on all this. The only stage-worthy plug (they are expensive though)
