'Ello all,
I had to quit playing live for a couple years....since the pandemic actually. One of my bands broke up just before all that started and then I had to relocate to help my Dad get along and that put me a bit too far for gigs with my other band. So that sucked.
Living with Dad, looking at all these guitars hanging on my wall.
Dad lives in Paradise, CA....it's a 10-minute drive downhill to Chico, CA. I lived in Chico for a few of my 'musically formative' years. There has always been a thriving music scene in the little town of Chico. It's a college town, so there are plenty of young bands around and plenty of places to play.
Just after the move, I went to see my old band play at a local bar. We started that band in 1989 and I quit a couple years later when my original band was taking off in '91. So, the guys hadn't changed much, except for the drummer who was a pretty well known guy back in the day, still is. I keep in touch with the original drummer, but he's in SoCal now.
Shortly after that show, the singer set up a jam at his place and I went over to get reacquainted with them and the material (some of which was the same stuff we used to play! AH!). A couple days later, I'm talking with the bass player and he's telling me about their guitar player suddenly flaking out - disappearing and ghosting him. I have no idea why, nor do I care. I saw an open door, I volunteered.
The drummer quit next, before I could even jam with him. He had so many other projects going on (he's popular, remember) and they were more fun to him than our Alt 90s band, which I understand. So, we got another drummer (that's a whole 'nother story) and booked a gig.
That gig was March 17th (St. Patty's Day) 2023....yes, over a year ago. I have been gigging about once a month since then, which is great. I just realized I didn't tell anyone on the Depot (oops). So, I'll use this thread to post some videos we made and some photos from our gigs.
